Computer Instruction is only available in the Metro Toronto and Durham regions of Ontario.
Students enrolled in the Academy of Reading are able to achieve exceptional reading results because this program's training modules ensure the mastery of fundamental reading skills.
The program is a very structured one.
Students are trained in phonemic awareness, decoding, and phonics.
Silent and oral reading comprehension follow.
Time and accuracy of response are recorded as these variables are key indicators of mastery and the ability to advance.
Although a teacher is available at all times, students also have access to a friendly Computer Tutor which provides help with training activities, lessons and tests.
With the Academy of Reading, tens of thousands of students have achieved an average improvement of 2.5 grade levels in 25 hours of concentrated study.
