CLASSROOM RULES:
- At the sound of the bell, stop what you are doing and listen to the teacher.
- Follow the teacher’s instructions immediately.
- Finish your class and homework on time.
- Show respect: Treat others as you would have them treat you.
- A hands off others policy is to be observed at all times.
- Speak only French when you are in the classroom. If the (specialty or supply) teacher does not speak French, you must still speak French amongst yourselves.
REWARDS:
- Stickers.
- Monetary rewards (paid in school money).
- Class auctions and other occasions to spend school money.
- Video presentations.
- Class trips.
- Open to suggestions from students.
CONSEQUENCES:
(#1- 4 may be used in any order)
- Put head down on desk.
- Fines (paid with school money).
- Classwork time reduced, homework time increased.
- No recess or lunch recess break.
- Parents informed.
- Meeting with parents.
- Meeting with parents, support staff and/or principal.
As you can see, the school behavior code is, in many ways, reflected in the standards in our classroom. My system is very simple. If students respect the rules, they will be rewarded. If rules are broken, there are consequences. Your cooperation in enforcing these simple rules will ensure the most effective learning environment for your children.
